How To Watch the 2023 Jim Palmeri’s 50th American Flying Disc Open Presented by Dynamic Discs

Jim Palmeri’s 50th American Flying Disc Open Presented by Dynamic Discs is here! This new event will join the Disc Golf Pro Tour as a Silver Event, and will take place at the Parma Town Park disc golf course located west of Rochester N.Y. in the Town of Parma.
The Course
Back in 2004, this course took shape. But in the last few months, it underwent changes: updates, renumbered tees, all gearing up for the first DGPT Silver Event. Playing in and out of the woods, Parma is known to be a technical course that requires distance in the open areas and accuracy in the woods. A creek also comes into play on a few of the holes, requiring all varieties of shots to score well.
The Greater Rochester Disc Golf Club (GRDGC), a diverse group of disc golfers dedicated to growing and improving the sport in the greater Rochester NY area, oversees the course. They’re working closely with the local event team, playing a vital role in making sure Rochester hosts this season’s event.
As for the tracks, both MPO and FPO will run a bit shorter compared to other stops on the tour (8,805 ft for MPO and 7,560 ft for FPO). Expect pinpoint accuracy and solid putting to take the lead at Parma. Despite being a tad shorter than the norm these days, the course will still keep players on their toes with a bunch of two-shot challenges.
In the first half of the course, both groups will tackle four par-4s, calling for precise tee shots. Later on, in the back half, they’ll handle three par-4s, even throwing in a par-5. Keep in mind the new twists like the mandatory flight path on Hole 5 and those extra drop zones on Hole 16 and 18. The course will require players to carefully consider their shot selection and execution. Catch the action to see who can smoothly navigate this new tour course and emerge victorious come Sunday!

A Look Ahead to This Weekend’s Field
Getting ready for the upcoming tournament, keep an eye on standout MPO contenders like Mason Ford, Ezra Robinson, and GT Hancock. Also in the mix is Matty O., who’s secured seven top-10 finishes and one podium in Pro Tour Elite, Silver, and Major events this season. The MPO feature card is also set to include Manabu Kajiyama, the highest-rated player hailing from Japan. In the FPO category, the highest-rated player is Holly Finley, closely followed by Stacie Kiefer and Ellen Widboom. Get the full rundown of players on the registration list right here.
