The final Disc Golf Pro Tour Silver Event of the year is just around the corner! The 2023 Discmania Open is a fresh addition to the Pro Tour, happening at the Rose Valley disc golf course in Prince Edward Island, Canada. This marks the first-ever Pro Tour event in Canada!

The Course

Built in 2019, Rose Valley boasts some of Prince Edward Island’s most stunning views. You’ll find options to suit all disc golf preferences, from open fairways to traditional tight and technical wooded holes with gaps off the tee. Barnone Brewery also operates on site, serving up post-round refreshments and providing fully plumbed restrooms for guests and disc golf enthusiasts alike.

Nestled in Breadalbane, PE, Canada, Rose Valley is a demanding par 62 course. The FPO field tackles 8,495 feet of diverse challenges, while the MPO takes on 9,455 feet of the same terrain. Success at Rose Valley hinges on powerful drives off the tee, precise shots through the wooded gaps, and adept putting through obstacles. The course keeps players engaged with numerous two and three-shot challenges – calling for a litany of crucial and strategic placements throughout the weekend.

The front 9 at Rose Valley presents the FPO field with 5 par-4 challenges, while the MPO faces 4 on this stretch, demanding precise tee shots and upshots. Moving to the back half, the MPO contends with 5 formidable par-4s, including the lengthy 844-foot Hole 14. The FPO, on the other hand, encounters 3 par-4s on the back half, including a par-5 on Hole 14. Hole 18 stands as the lengthiest for the FPO at 799 feet from tee to basket. This course necessitates thoughtful shot selection and execution. Tune in to witness who can navigate this new tour course skillfully and emerge victorious on Sunday!

Also worth keeping an eye on are Alden Harris (PDGA# 98091), who delivered an outstanding performance at the 2023 PDGA Pro Worlds, and Ezra Robinson (PDGA# 50671), celebrating his first Pro Tour victory at Jim Palmeri’s 50th American Flying Disc Open, along with other notable talents like Thomas Gilbert (PDGA# 85850), and the emerging star Evan Scott (PDGA# 89394).

In the FPO division, the top-rated player is Discmania’s own Ella Hansen (PDGA# 144112), aiming to rebound from her performance at Worlds and secure her first DGPT event victory of the season. She faces competition from 5X World Champion Juliana Korver (PDGA# 7438) and contenders like Ratana Meekham (PDGA# 101949) and Emily Yale (PDGA# 144791). It’s a small field on the FPO side, but we can’t wait to see them tackle this course! Get the full rundown of players on the registration list right here.
