DGPT Reschedules Group Match Play Ahead of MVP Music City Open

April 3, 2025 – Nashville, TN: Due to a severe weather event currently affecting the mid-south region of the United States this week, the Mill Ridge Disc Golf Course in Nashville, TN, has received a significant amount of rainfall since late Wednesday afternoon. Currently, the course is in the process of draining after receiving more than two inches of rain in several hours and a consistent lightning activity in the area.

The Tour issued a temporary course closure at 7:35 AM CT and began updating the DGPT’s event status page. Then, at 10:30 AM CT, the Tour announced that FPO match play would need to be rescheduled to a later date and that it was monitoring course conditions for potential MPO competition this afternoon. Severe weather remains possible for the remainder of the day, and the Nashville area is currently under a tornado watch until this evening.

After further assessment, the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) has deemed it necessary to postpone the entirety of the group match play scheduled for today ahead of the MVP Music City Open presented by Another Round. All group play matches for the FPO and MPO divisions will be moved to a different date and location later this season. Further information on rescheduled matches will be available after confirmation with players and host venue(s) is complete.

“While we hope the worst weather is behind us for this week, the current course conditions are not conducive to safe play and spectating. Thus, Mill Ridge will remain closed on Thursday, and the Tour has suspended all activities, including practice rounds, for the remainder of the day,” said DGPT CEO and Tour Director Jeff Spring. “Today, our focus must be on ensuring the safety of players, spectators, volunteers, and staff and preparing the course for play the rest of this week and weekend.”

Tour staff are working to mitigate the impacts of significant rainfall ahead of tomorrow’s first round of standard stroke play competition. The competition schedule for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday remains unchanged, but may be adjusted if severe weather continues to impact Mill Ridge. The DGPT will continue to provide current weather information and competition schedule updates at DGPT.com/event-updates. Spectators will receive additional communications from the Tour via email.
