The Fifth Annual Play It Again Sports Jonesboro Open presented by Prodigy kicked off this morning and the stars of the sport came out and showed out.

It was a picture-perfect day here at The Disc Side of Heaven, and the nickname lived to the hype by giving the field perfect conditions. Thebig news of the day was former Ricky Wysocki and reigning champion Calvin Heimburg turned in the hot rounds of the day coming into tomorrow sitting at -13 followed by Ben Callaway. Ben not only played his way onto the lead card but at the same time conquered the course with a bogey-free round. A name that is common for thriving on an open course is Drew Gibson who earned his way onto the second-day lead card with a -11 down round. Casey White and Eagle McMahon were the talk of the early day by setting the tone with both 10 down rounds.

The female side of things saw some fresh faces skyrocket towards the top of the leaderboard. Newcomer Macie Walker lit the fairways up with 90 percent fairway hits and coming into tomorrow on the lead card only one stroke back of the leader Catrina Allen. Allen took the lead late and took the lead from Paige Pierce to be the sole leader at -8. Pierce showed why she is the only winner of this event, by leading the field with 95 percent fairway hits. Unfortunatley for Peirce she took only one bogey on the day, but it happened to be a quadruple bogey removing her from the lead. She sits only one back of Allen as well as Sarah Hokom. Hokom worked her way to the seven down mark with her precision forehands, and being able to work her way throughout the course bogey free.
