It’s Major time! The 2025 U.S. Women’s Disc Golf Championship (USWDGC) is set to take over Manitowoc, Wisconsin, showcasing two of the state’s most iconic courses. The FPO field will take on the wooded fairways and elevation shifts of Rollin Ridge for rounds 1 and 2, before shifting to the demanding Super Silver layout at Silver Creek for rounds 3 and 4. As a PDGA Pro Major with roots dating back to 1999, this 2025 edition is poised to deliver another unforgettable battle for the title.
Can Missy Gannon defend her 2024 USWDGC title? Will Silva Saarinen extend her red-hot win streak? Can Kristin Lätt, the world’s top-rated FPO player, capture yet another Major? Will Holyn Handley, current DGPT points leader, make her move—or will a new name rise to the top?

WEATHER THIS WEEKEND
The forecast for the 2025 USWDGC in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, features warm temps, steady breezes, and a few early rain chances. Thursday and Friday will see highs in the upper 70s to low 80s, with the best chance for showers and storms—especially Friday morning. Winds shift out of the SSW starting Friday and stay through the weekend, peaking at 25 mph on Saturday, which also brings a chance for a passing shower or storm with highs in the mid to upper 80s. Sunday looks like the nicest day: warm, dry, and breezy—ideal for championship-caliber disc golf.

Here’s a look at the top storylines headed into this weekend:
1️⃣ Silva’s Summer Surge: Can It Translate to a Major?
Silva Saarinen just accomplished something no one has done in years: beat Kristin Lätt twice in a row. After back-to-back Elite Series wins at Ale Open and the Preserve, she rolls into USWDGC with more momentum than anyone in the field. Silva has won 8 times in the month of June alone over the past three years.
But here’s the kicker: Silva has never finished inside the Top 20 at USWDGC. Her prior finishes? 23rd and 34th. This is her chance to change the narrative—and maybe capture her first career Major title.
2️⃣ Missy Eyes Back-to-Back Majors
With her win at this year’s Champions Cup, Missy Gannon has already snagged a 2025 Major. Now she returns as the defending USWDGC champion, looking to go back-to-back at both the event and the season’s Major leaderboard.
Gannon, now sporting a career-high 988 rating, has become one of the most reliable performers in the game—winning two Elite/Major events already this season and cashing in at 75 straight events on Tour. If she defends this title, she’ll be just the fifth player ever to win USWDGC in consecutive years.
3️⃣ Kristin Lätt Chases 8th Major & Faces New Threats
It feels odd to frame a two-time USWDGC champ and 7-time Major winner as needing to prove anything, but that’s where Kristin Lätt finds herself. After five straight Major wins between 2022 and 2023, she’s only captured one of the last five. Expectations are sky high, and she will have the chance to come back after a narrow loss at the Champions Cup earlier this year.
Despite remaining a podium machine—she hasn’t finished outside the Top 2 all season—Lätt is suddenly facing real pressure from a younger European rival in Saarinen and a surging Gannon. A win would bring her to eight FPO Majors, placing her alone at third all-time, behind only Paige Pierce and Valarie Jenkins.
4️⃣ Paige Pierce Back in the Hunt & in Her Element
With five USWDGC wins, 17 career Majors, and the highest-rated FPO Major performance of all time (1024 at 2021 USWDGC), Paige Pierce doesn’t need to prove anything—but she’s still playing like she has something to prove.
After a rocky 2023 due to injury, and just one win in 2024, Pierce has podiumed at her last three Elite/Major events and seems to be rounding into form just in time. If she pulls off another win in Wisconsin, it’ll be her sixth USWDGC title—and further widen her lead as the winningest player in this event’s history.
5️⃣ Can Holyn Handley Finally Break Through?
It’s hard to imagine that Holyn Handley, with her 991 rating and nine straight Top 5s in 2025, has yet to win a Major. She leads the DGPT World Standings. She’s won three ES events this year. She hasn’t missed a cash at a big event in four years. Yet the “best player without a Major” tag continues to stick.
She finished 3rd at her best FPO Major—and that’s starting to feel overdue. With the course setup rewarding clean lines and power, the Wisconsin layout may finally align with Holyn’s strengths. If she wins, it would mark the first Major breakthrough for the highest-rated player yet to get one.
