DGPT Spotlight Shines on Sweden: Top Storylines & How to Watch the 2025 Ale Open
The Ale Open presented by Discraft returns to the Disc Golf Pro Tour in 2025, now elevated to a DGPT Standard/Elite Series event after making its debut as a DGPT Europe Silver stop in 2024. Set at the renowned Ale Disc Golf Center in Nödinge-Nol, Sweden, (the #2 course in the World according to UDisc), the event will feature many of the world’s top players competing on a course purpose-built in 2013 to become a premier destination for the sport. Thanks to the vision and hard work of Jonas Grundén, Camilla Jernberg, and Dan Johansson, the Ale Open is set to deliver world-class competition in a truly iconic setting.

The 2025 Ale Open in Nol, Sweden is expected to bring a consistent weather pattern throughout the weekend. Low temperatures will hover in the upper 40s to low 50s, with daytime highs not far off—so expect cool, stable conditions from morning to afternoon. Winds will be steady across all three days, with Sunday looking just a bit breezier than the others. There’s a daily chance of rain, but no lightning is in the forecast, so while it may be damp at times, it should be safe for play from start to finish.

1️⃣ Kristin Lätt Eyes Fourth Win of the Season
Despite skipping both the Cascade Challenge and Northwest Disc Golf Championship, Kristin Lätt is staying sharp in Europe, racking up wins and climbing the DGPT World Standings, where she currently sits in 3rd. Fresh off her third DGPT victory of the season at the 2025 Konopiště Open, Kristin continues to prove she’s the most dominant player in the field. According to DGPT Season Stats, she leads the FPO division in Fairway Hits (86.71%), Parked shots (15.03%), C2 in Regulation (75.16%), and Scramble percentage (57.5%). With many top U.S. players not traveling to Sweden, Kristin has a clear path to earn even more points—and potentially lock in her fourth win of the season—before heading back stateside for The Preserve Championship.
2️⃣ Saarinen Set to Shine in Sweden
Still chasing her first DGPT win of 2025, Silva Saarinen enters the Ale Open with momentum and a proven track record. Fresh off a 2nd-place finish at the Konopiště Open, Saarinen returns to a course where she already knows how to win—she claimed victory at the 2024 Ale Open (then a DGPT Europe Silver event) by three-strokes. Her performance was dominant, leading the field in C1 putting at 95% and birdie percentage at 24% over three rounds. Combine that with her current tour-leading C2 putting stat (29.81%), and Saarinen has all the tools to challenge the field—and even take down the world’s top-ranked FPO player.
3️⃣ Fors Charges into Ale After Q-Series Victory
13-year-old Swedish pro Julia Fors is ready to make waves on home turf. At last year’s Ale Open, Fors came out hot, tying for 3rd after Round 1 while leading the field in birdie percentage (28%). She ultimately secured a top-10 finish, tying for 10th and proving she can hang with the sport’s elite. Fast forward to 2025, and Fors continues her rise with a solo 9th place at the Konopiště Open and a recent statement win at the DGPT Q-Series Eastern Meadows Open, where she topped the field by three-strokes. With momentum on her side and the crowd behind her, Fors could be poised for her biggest breakthrough yet at the Ale Disc Golf Center.

1️⃣ Ricky Sets Sights on Ale Open Title
Ricky Wysocki is making the trip to Sweden for the 2025 Ale Open, and he’s coming in with serious momentum. Despite a DGPT win still eluding him this season, Wysocki has notched four top-5 finishes in his last four events and remains one of the Tour’s most consistent performers. Currently ranked 4th in the DGPT World Standings, he enters the Ale Open as the highest-rated player in the field (1052), giving him a clear edge—especially with several top contenders staying stateside.
With the field less stacked than usual, this event presents a prime opportunity for Wysocki to secure his first DGPT victory of 2025. And the timing couldn’t be better: next weekend is the Preserve Championship, where he’s the defending champion and a three-time winner (2021, 2023, 2024). If there’s any moment for Ricky to build momentum, it’s now.
2️⃣ Davidsson Defends: Eyes on Ale Open Repeat
Daniel Davidsson returns to the Ale Disc Golf Center as the defending champion, having secured victory—and the highest-rated event of his PDGA career (1058)—at last year’s Ale Open. Now aiming for his first career win at a DGPT Standard/Elite Series event, the Finnish pro looks to build on his early-season momentum. While he’s coming off a 16th-place finish at the Konopiště Open, Davidsson already notched a DGPT Q-Series win at the Scottish Open—proof he’s no stranger to the podium in 2025. With a deeper field and strong title contenders in the mix, Davidsson will need to deliver a top-tier performance to retain his crown.
3️⃣ Mauri Villmann: Europe’s Hottest Hand
Mauri Villmann made a statement with his dominant performance at the Konopiště Open, capturing his first DGPT Standard/Elite Series victory in commanding fashion. He won by six strokes with a score of 40-under par, backed by a field-leading 74% birdie rate, 92% fairway hit percentage, 70% C1 in regulation, and 93% C2 in regulation. He also carded one of the highest-rated rounds of his PDGA career (1067) during the event.
So far in 2025, Villmann has competed in eight PDGA events and finished on the podium in all of them—claiming five wins, including his DGPT triumph at Konopiště. Just one week after that victory, he added another A-Tier title at the Baltic Disc Golf Championship XIII Alutaguse Open. With this level of consistency and momentum, Villmann is quickly emerging as a serious threat on the DGPT Europe circuit.
