The Utah Open symbolises the growth of our sport as a whole. Just four years ago, the first Utah Open was held. From the very beginning, it was not just a tournament. It was a week of exciting activities that included multiple rounds of golf, meals, clinics, a Flying Circus and miniature golf. In 2018, we are partnering with Prodigy Discs and, much like the tournament itself, they are not just the presenting partner of a Pro Tour stop. We are also investing in the region, working to put in several new disc golf courses to spread awareness of the sport, Prodigy Discs and the Utah Open.
Mulligan’s disc golf course, installed in 2014 on a pre-existing golf course, is approximately 8,340 feet long with seven ponds and lots of sand traps, making it a very challenging course. While many courses will say they are scenic, the mountain views make for the most breath-taking backdrop on tour.
In 2017, Ricky Wysocki carded the Pro Tour’s first walk-off ace, closing the door on the five players that were within one shot of the lead during the final round. We look forward to putting on another spectacular show. Come hungry and thirsty, bring your eyes to watch, your skills for the disc festival and your smile to share. 2018 is going to be a great year for disc golf and the Utah Open is proud to be a showcase event of the Disc Golf Pro Tour.
