Day two of the Vintage Open has come and gone and Sarah Hokum now stands along atop the FPO leaderboard after shooting -6 and leading the division in birdie percentage.  Only Jessica Weese, Lisa Fajkus and Missy Gannon were able to shoot under par today, but there are still a few women chasing down the podium. Round 1 co-leader, Stacie Rawnsley finished the last 2 holes losing 3 strokes and ending at +3, while Kona Star Panis, Catrina Allen and Rebecca Cox all shot par to finish +1, +3 and +4, respectively. With 10-20 MPH winds predicted for Saturday’s last round, any of these players could earn their way to the top of leaderboard and a Silver Series win.

In the MPO division, Calvin Heimburg continued his dominance in Arkansas, shooting -11 to end the day at -20 overall and in first place on the leaderboard. Gavin Rathbun and Nikko Locastro also shot well today, but the hot round came from James Conrad with a blistering -14, a new course record, to join Rathbun in a tie for second place. Conrad coupled a 100% C1 putting percentage with a bogey free round to earn 14 birdies on the day. Locastro, just behind in 4th place, joined Heimburg in shooting an -11 round, but unlike the leader, he did it bogey free. The rest of the leaderboard of the MPO division didn’t change up much, with Matt Bell, Ricky Wysocki, Chris Clemons and Adam Hammes all playing well during the second round, but the gap at the top is beginning to grow. With only one more round at The Vintage Open, we’ll see if Heimburg can play at this level for another round, and if Conrad can shoot another hot round to earn a win at the event.
