The Disc Golf Pro Tour is heading 500 miles northeast from Belton, TX to Russellville, AR for the 10th Annual Vintage Open. The Vintage Open begins tomorrow, April 8 with Round One of the PDGA A-Tier, and runs through Saturday, April 10.
The Vintage Open marks the second Silver Series stop of 2021 for the DGPT. Silver Series events are worth 25 percent of the DGPT points that Elite Series events are. However, The Vintage Open is sure to be a big influencer on the rest of the season, and this year’s tournament provides some fun events, such as the long drive competition happening today at 5:30 p.m., and the Vintage Putting Challenge at the Train Depot, where the first round begins at 6 p.m. tomorrow. The Train Depot is also where the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday evening.
The Vintage Open’s 2019 MPO Champion Gregg Barsby will return for this year’s tournament.
Entering the Vintage Open on the MPO side is top-ranked Calvin Heimburg, who proved last month at Belton that consistency is key. During this season, Heimburg has 3 top-5 finishes out of three total DGPT competitions, including a third-place finish at Belton. Heimburg currently leads the Pro Tour standings, sitting 32.5 points above runner-up Paul McBeth, who is not listed as registered for The Vintage Open.
Ricky Wysocki will look to win back-to-back DGPT events this weekend in Russellville.
The Open at Belton’s MPO Champion, Ricky Wysocki, will come into The Vintage Open looking to start a winning streak after a contested battle against both Heimburg and McBeth in Belton. Wysocki went -16 under par last tournament with some incredible play to secure the win. Also entering the tournament will be Waco Champion Nikko Locastro, who currently is ranked at 5th place in Pro Tour standings. Vintage’s 2019 Champion Gregg Barsby will make his return this weekend as well.
Catrina Allen (above) and Kona Star Panis will both be looking for their second event win of the 2021 DGPT season this weekend in Russellville.
Moving over to the FPO side, veteran Catrina Allen will look to complete a back-to-back event win at The Vintage Open after securing a win at Belton last month. Belton’s third-place finisher, Missy Gannon, will look to move up in the Tour Standings with a win this weekend in Russellville. Gannon is currently ranked 9th.
Top-ranked Kona Star Panis will be teeing off, as well as 5th-ranked Sarah Hokom and 6th-ranked Jessica Weese. At the 2019 The Vintage Open, Gannon took first place with a +10 score, while Deann Carey and Panis trailed behind in 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
If you’re in the Russellville area, General Admission tickets and FPO VIP passes are available here. General Admission is free and FPO passes are $40 plus fees. MPO VIP passes are sold out. Spectator parking is available next to the Player Warm-Up Area, located near Holes 1 and 2.
