The wind decided to calm down for the final day of the Utah Open presented by Prodigy Disc which created perfect course conditions. The lead rounds started out in
style with a chauffeured drive up to the first tee. Throughout the weekend vendors lined the walkway to the first tee creating a real festival atmosphere for the tournament. As the crowds gathered, the breeze picked up and kept things cool for the final round of play.
Players took full advantage of the cool breeze as they carded some of the hottest rounds of the tournament this weekend.
In the FPO division, Ellen Widboom carded the second hottest round of the day, throwing +3 to move up three spots, finishing right at the cash line. On the lead card, Catrina Allen finished +2 for the day extending her lead by one and finishing the tournament at +8. Catrina was able to separate herself down the stretch and finish the tournament without a playoff like last year .
In the MPO division, Ricky Wysocki shot a course scorching (record breaking) -14. Had he not missed three circle two putts he would have been -17. It was a great day for scoring with less than 40% of the field shooting over par. DJ Gilbert moved up the highest today in the men’s field, jumping 25 spots with his -6 performance. He finished T29 and in the cash at his second Pro Tour event ever. Eagle McMahon and Paul McBeth also had stellar performances, carding bogey-free -12 on the day. Following their hot performances were young guns Anthony Barela and Kevin Jones who threw a -10 and -9 respectively.
The exciting scoring conditions at Mulligan’s Creekside Disc Golf Course will give way to the mountainous and challenging Toboggan course for the next Disc Golf Pro Tour stop which takes place in twelve days in Michigan. Make plans to watch live ! The FPO division will start at 2:00 PM ET and the MPO division will go live at 3 PM ET. You will not want to miss it!
