This week’s Ledgestone Open Sponsored by Discraft is the twelfth tournament for the Disc Golf Pro Tour. After every event we’re working hard to improve the UDisc Live scoring experience and make it easier to follow tournaments and the tour.
The ‘Nikko Arrows’ debuted during the WACO (inspired by Nikko Locastro‘s determination and comeback after a car accident) and have been a big hit this season.
The last few updates have focused on the Standings page. The Ledgestone Open Sponsored by Discraft kicks off the second half of the Pro Tour season and the players are all vying for top seeds in the DGPT Championship. The standings page now shows the tournament registration for the final 4 events so you can see if your favorite players will be competing.
Ricky Wysocki has the top seed and points title on the MPO nearly locked up but there are a lot of players hoping to secure crucial byes. Dana Vicich missed the first few events this year but he’s on tour for the second half and looking to secure a bye and improve on his DGPT Finals performance from last year.
In the FPO division, Paige Pierce is in the lead but Sarah Hokom is less than 30 points back. Both Paige and Sarah are registered for all the remaining tour stops. Val Jenkins is currently 40 points short of qualifying but she is poised to make some big moves up the standings in the second half of the second.
Many of the biggest changes to UDisc Live this season have been behind the scenes. After some scaling challenges at the Vibram Open last year, the site speed has been significantly improved several times.
We’ve put a lot of focus this year on using UDisc Live to verify scores and reduce manual scoring errors and penalties. Another main goal has been capturing hole-by-hole scores for every competitor and showing on the site as soon as possible. Last year, for cards without live scoring we took photos of the scorecard and manually entered into the database. Now we have a page for tournament scoring directors to easily record and verify every card as soon as they’re off the course. Players can also verify directly with their scoring volunteer before signing the card to avoid costly penalties.
We’ve also added some new surprises to UDisc Live to help highlight the instant scoring. Make sure to follow all four rounds this weekend and watch the scores update live.
