In 2016 and 2017, the minimum added cash at each Pro Tour stop was $10,000. This year we are increasing this number to $10,500. While it is a relatively
small increase, over the course of the season, it will add $5,000 to the season’s payouts. A few hundred here, a few hundred there. Pretty soon we’re talking real money.
Additionally, payouts for the Tour Championship and Points Championships will be increased by another $5,000, with first place MPO & FPO receiving $7500 and $2500, respectively. The Tour Championship is a celebration of the season and an opportunity for the Pro Tour to thank and highlight the players that had success throughout the season. See our Tour Championship article for complete details.
These two steps, more money at each event and the Tour Championship, will increase the likelihood – and livelihood – of players trying to get on tour and make a living. The PDGA recently flattened the bonus structure of the National Tour. We applaud and agree. These formative years of the professional side of our sport are very exciting and we all owe a debt of gratitude to the players that make watching so exciting.
Here’s to a great 2018 season. Are you ready to watch?
