The Disc Golf Pro Tour sends our thoughts out to all those across the world that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to send our respect and gratitude to all the essential workers who continue to risk their health and lives to serve our communities in this challenging time, particularly the health care workers on the front lines.

We’re happy to be able to report that the DGPT team and our families are doing well and sheltering in place. The DGPT is busy connecting with touring pros, creating content to share with you about our great venues, and digging into other compelling aspects of professional disc golf. We are excited to continue to share our love of the sport with you, and hope that the continued content helps to keep spirits up!

We’d like to thank Dynamic Discs for allowing the DGPT to store our travel vehicles with them in Emporia. We hope to restart our season in Emporia with a unique event once guidance from the medical community, local governments, and the PDGA provide safe options to play disc golf. We thank the PDGA for their leadership in dealing with this pandemic, and encourage all disc golfers to heed their guidance at this time.

Today, we can share more updates regarding the DGPT season and the effect that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the schedule so far. The 303 Open, scheduled for May 8-10, has been postponed. Tournament Director Kyle Maute shared the following, “Sometimes the right decisions are the toughest to make. The 2020 303 Open will be postponed from it’s date of May 8-10. This is a decision we do not want to have to make, but it is one that we all knew was coming.” The DGPT will communicate all rescheduled tour dates as soon as they are set.

Additionally, the DGPT has pushed back the event registrations for the Idlewild Open presented by Dynamic Discs, the MVP Open, and Discraft’s Green Mountain Championship @ Smugglers’ Notch Resort to Friday, May 15. These event registrations were scheduled to open this Friday, April 10. This will allow more time for competitors to prepare funds to register and give a clearer picture of the progression of the pandemic for those who wish to compete.

With this update, here are affected events and current rescheduling plans:

The next event that is being discussed is the San Francisco Open driven by Innova. Scheduled for May 29-31, the SFO event team is staying up-to-date on current news and virus trends while working through several scenarios to decide the best course of action. This is the same for the team hosting The Challenge at Goat Hill, scheduled for June 5-7. Decisions regarding how those events will move forward will be made in the coming weeks.

The DGPT is working closely with the PDGA, our event teams, and our partners to reorganize the professional touring season as needed. At this point in time, there are several scenarios that may unfold, and we will reassess the path forward on a week-to-week basis. We are aware that all plans made are subject to change quickly, and we are proceeding diligently with compassion and understanding as we work together.

While nearly all aspects of our lives have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is heartening to be a part of the passionate, loving, and creative group that is the disc golf community. The challenges, games, and connections via technology that we are enjoying certainly help to brighten our day and provide excitement to get back on the course once this passes. We look forward to seeing you on tour, but until then, we will see you online!
