The Beaver State Fling has returned this 2023 season as a DGPT Silver Event from May 19th – 21st in Estacada, Oregon. The course, located at Milo McIver State Park, is breathtaking; It boasts numerous trees, gorgeous views of the river, and magnificent scenery.
The Course
In the past, this tournament has been held on two separate courses, the East and West. This year the competitors will be playing the newly designed Riverbend Gold Layout. Similar to the OTB Open, this course is a long one at 11,344 feet par 67 for the MPO Division. The FPO course layout boasts 9,746 feet par 69.
Competitors can expect a significant amount of roadways as OB to contend with. Holes 2 and 3 have views of the river on the right side play. Then on the back 9, holes 10, 12, and 13 butts up to the river on the left side. A major change to the course is that Hole 17 is now a par 5 rather than a par 4. This course will undoubtedly make for an exciting tournament to watch live!

A Look Ahead At This Weekend’s Field
During the recent OTB Open, we witnessed Paige Pierce’s triumphant return after her injury earlier this year, as she clinched her second DGPT victory this year. She and Kristin Tattar are currently the only two competitors in the FPO division with multiple tournament wins this season. However, in the upcoming Beaver State Fling presented by Innova, both Paige Pierce and Kristin Tattar will not be participating.
This season has not had many repeat winners, and Kristin Tattar has already won four times and has come in second once. As a result, it is likely that this weekend’s event will have some new leaders. Ohn Scoggins is the top-rated competitor at the Beaver State Fling, with a seven-point lead over Catrina Allen, Holyn Handley, and Missy Gannon. Allen, Gannon, and Handley all have very similar ratings, making the field nearly evenly matched near the top
Garret Gurthie won the last Beaver State Fling, and Emerson Keith topped the MPO division podium last week. We are excited to see if there will be back-to-back tournament wins for Keith. Or will this be a repeat performance and another Beaver State Fling Tournament win for Double G?
Three other favorites to win are currently the top three competitors registered for the tournament and three are all rated within a point of each other: Calvin Heimburg, Gannon Buhr, Ricky Wysocki, and Eagle McMahon. Both Wysocki and McMahon both have two previous wins at the Beaver State Fling. Other names to watch for this weekend are Isaac Robinson and Bradley Williams, who are both near the top of the field by rating and have played well this season so far, with Robinson capturing his first-ever PDGA Pro Major just a few weeks ago at the Champions Cup.

Live Video Coverage – All Rounds!
A Note From Our Broadcast Team
The Beaver State Fling, a long-running event on Tour, was covered LIVE for the first time in 2022. While this live broadcast was initially expected to remain out of reach last season, upgrades to the Disc Golf Network live broadcast infrastructure and local improvements to cellular network coverage made a broadcast possible.
Even with these upgrades, we still expect to face a few challenges this weekend in regard to cellular signal strength. Our team is hard at work to deliver the best-looking stream possible, but portions of this course offer a stronger cellular connection than others. Please be aware of this as you’re enjoying the broadcast.
The Disc Golf Network team is thrilled to return to Milo McIver Park and bring you all the action this weekend!
