The FPO division started off in interesting fashion today here at Discraft’s Green Mountain Championship. We saw the ladies start their rounds between
1-2pm ET today. It looks like two in the FPO division capitalized on the additional rest and were able to put out some solid, under par rounds on the Fox Run course.
This weekend the FPO division will be playing on the course opposite of the MPO division. This means we will be watching the ladies take on Brewster Ridge tomorrow while the men tackle the longer, yet more open Fox Run course.
The Fox Run course where the women played today is a par 63, 9,320ft course from the Golds. The FPO division is playing a modified layout – some from the blue tees and some hole from the gold tees. Their total course par is 62 with a total distance of 8,415ft for the FPO division.
The ladies had perfect weather this afternoon which setup some stellar play from our ladies.
Valarie Jenkins played consistent golf all day today. She was able to offset all four of her bogeys with four birdies to finish the day at even. A score of even par was just enough to get Valarie onto the lead card tomorrow. We hope to see more consistent play out of her this weekend.
Sarah Hokom and Paige Pierce were on two different cards today but it looked like they were battling each other throughout the day.
Sarah Hokom carded seven birdies today. She ended up at -5 on the day due to a double-bogey on the 445ft par 3 hole 5. Finishing the day -5 places Sarah Hokom solidly in second place, five shots better than Valarie Jenkins. (We would talk more about Sarah Hokom’s round however, her uDisc stats were not entirely correct – something which we will remedy for tomorrow).
Speaking of hole 5. It was a hole which gave a few players in the FPO division a hard time today. Paige Pierce was one of those. She carded a bogey on hole 3 and the double bogey on hole 5. Those were her only two blemishes on the day. She carded nine birdies enroute to a -6 on the day.
Going into Round 2 tomorrow the lead card will feature Paige Pierce, Sarah Hokom, and Valarie Jenkins. The chase card will feature Catrina Allen and Jessica Weese who are both tied at +1 and then Des Reading who finished the day +4. Catrina Allen will be looking to make up some ground tomorrow at Brewster Ridge in order to stay on path to defend her 2016 Green Mountain win.
You will be able to catch all of the action during live coverage of the lead MPO card tomorrow starting at 2:30pm ET. You can also catch the highlights on our instagram story and appropriate social channels. Make sure you tune in to watch and share with everyone, it’s going to be an exciting finish for the last stop of the 2017 Pro Tour.
