DGPT Issues Weather Contingency Plan for MPO Final Round at the Kansas City Wide Open

April 26, 2026 (2:55 PM CT): Due to incoming severe weather and updated information from the National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center, the Disc Golf Pro Tour has officially shortened the final MPO round of the 2026 Kansas City Wide Open to nine holes. 

This decision was reached after continued monitoring of incoming weather patterns, which indicate a large thunderstorm approaching Bad Rock Creek, with inclement conditions expected to persist for the remainder of the day.

In order for the final round to be considered official, all competitors must complete a minimum of nine (9) holes (holes 1–9). If all groups are able to complete nine holes before play is suspended, the round will be deemed official. In that scenario, the final round will be scored as a nine-hole round, and results will be determined based on scores through hole 9. 

If there is tie for first place after nine holes, the DGPT will make every effort to conduct a playoff to determine a champion, including, if necessary, scheduling that playoff for later today as conditions allow or the following day. 

April 26, 2026 (1:40 PM, CT): With inclement weather approaching the Kansas City area, the Disc Golf Pro Tour remains focused on ensuring the safety of all players, spectators, staff, and volunteers on-site at Bad Rock Creek. Simultaneously, the Tour is working to complete as much of the MPO final round as weather conditions safely allow. The FPO round has been completed, and any potential weather impacts later this afternoon will only apply to the MPO division.

Current Status at Bad Rock Creek

MPO Round 3 will proceed under the previously adjusted tee times, with the Tour continuing to closely monitor developing weather patterns. Additional shuttle capacity has been implemented to support the efficient clearing of the course if conditions require a suspension of play. Competition will be halted at the point necessary to ensure all individuals can safely exit the property ahead of severe weather.

Competition Standards

Per PDGA and DGPT competition standards, today’s final round may only be considered official once all competitors have completed a minimum of nine (9) holes. If play is suspended after all groups have completed nine holes but prior to the completion of the full round, the total number of holes completed by the lead card will determine the official length of the round and will be applied uniformly across the MPO field.

If the final round is completed in fewer than eighteen holes and results in a tie for first place, the DGPT will make every effort to conduct a playoff to determine a champion, including, if necessary, scheduling that playoff for a later time or the following day.

If Play is Suspended Before 9 Holes are Completed

If play is suspended prior to all competitors completing nine holes, tournament administration will evaluate whether it is feasible to resume play later today or, in accordance with current PDGA policy for Elite Series events, on the following day. If completion of nine holes for all MPO competitors is deemed not feasible, final results for the MPO division will be submitted based on scores through Round 2, and today’s round will not be recorded as official.

Round Ratings

Rounds will receive ratings only if all competitors complete a minimum of thirteen (13) holes. Rounds consisting of nine (9) to twelve (12) completed holes will be considered official but will not receive ratings.
