We have completed round two at Discraft’s Great Lakes Open, and the FPO division featured several big moves to shake-up the leaderboard going into the final day of competition.
Those who moved up the most spots were not on lead or chase card today. Lauren Butler moved up seven spots with her +3 performance today. If she can move up seven more spots tomorrow, she will be in cash. Samantha Socia also carded a +3 on the day and was able to move up six spots. Samantha will want to turn on the heat tomorrow for a look at cash, but it is still within grasp if she puts in the work.
The most notable FPO player to move up the leaderboard during moving day at Discraft’s Great Lakes Open was Ragna Bygde. Ragna was a fan favorite going into the tournament but was unable to get her putts dialed in for round one. It looks like she recovered today, improving five throws on yesterday’s +7 performance. Ragna moved up five spots into the cash today and is in a position to make a run at the five during the final round.
The chase card today also played phenomenal golf, putting together two of the hottest rounds of the day. Ellen Widboom played consistent golf, with two birdies and one bogey to move into even par for the tournament. Ellen was able to dial in the bogeys and move her way onto the lead card for the final day. Paige Bjerkaas landed the second hottest round today, putting together a -3 round after taking the bogey on hole one. Paige is now tied with Ellen and will be joining her on the lead card tomorrow morning.
In what is possibly the story of the weekend from the FPO division, Sarah Hokom came into the clubhouse with an impressive -6, besting the hottest score in the field by three. Sarah was able to avoid the bogey on hole nine that she carded yesterday and find four birdies that she was unable to convert on yesterday. Sarah now leads the field by six throws and will be looking to build on her consistent play from across the weekend on the final day to bring home a second Pro Tour victory this season.
The final day is shaping up to be an exciting finish to the Disc Golf Pro Tour’s first event on the Toboggan course. We will be able to watch tour newcomers Ellen Widboom and Paige Bjerkaas alongside stalwarts Sarah Hokom and Jessica Weese in a final round battle to see how each will advance in tour standings. Make sure you are prepared to tune-in starting at 2 PM ET today and tomorrow for all of the shot-by-shot FPO action.
