The Eight – It kinda matters. The top eight players in Tour Points get a bye in to the Semifinals. Players who finish from 9th to 48th will need to play a one round Quarterfinals and finish in the top eight in the Quarters to earn their spot in the Semifinals. Let’s take a look at the players, as Oingo Boingo once said, “On the outside lookin’ in.”
Over the coming few days, we will talk in depth about the Tour Championship Brackets. Here is a visual representation of the way things stand going into the final event, Discraft’s Green Mountain Championship. In all likelihood, things will change, but this gives us a good base on which to start our models.
There have been many gratifying moments to getting the Pro Tour started. One of those moments was sitting down and looking at the standings and realizing that there are 10 players in the top 30 who made a bigger commitment to playing disc golf professionally because of the Pro Tour. That has been one of the goals of the Pro Tour from the very beginning and to each of you we give thanks.
Tour Championship begins September 17th. Top 48 in Tour Points qualify.
2016 is a starter year for the Pro Tour. Going into the season, players had no real expectations as to what the DGPT Season would entail nor what it would take to qualify for the Tour Championship. With four events down and one to go, things are coming into focus.
