The Northwest Disc Golf Championship presented by Latitude 64° (NWC) returns to Portland for its second season, bringing one of the Tour’s most unique stops back to the Pacific Northwest. Created in 2025 by combining the rich histories of the Portland Open and Beaver State Fling, the event quickly established itself as a premier showcase of professional disc golf. Hosted in partnership between the Disc Golf Pro Tour and Stumptown Disc Golf, the championship spans four days of competition and serves as an important preview of what awaits when Portland hosts the 2027 PDGA Pro World Championships. With one of the sport’s most passionate fan bases, a deep-rooted disc golf culture, and some of the best scenery on Tour, Portland is ready to welcome the world’s best players for another memorable week.

The challenge unfolds across two distinctly different venues. The opening rounds take place at Riverbend Gold at Milo McIver State Park, a legendary course known for its towering forests, rolling terrain, and demanding mix of power and precision. The final rounds shift to Glendoveer East, where players will face a more open layout featuring strategic out-of-bounds lines, carefully designed green complexes, and plenty of opportunities for leaderboard movement. Together, the two courses create a balanced test that rewards complete players and sets the stage for an exciting finish.

NORTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIP: FPO LOOKAHEAD
- FPO1 Feature Card: Holyn Handley, Anniken Steen, Silva Saarinen, & Paige Pierce
- FPO2 Feature Card: Missy Gannon, Rebecca Cox, Ohn Scoggins, & Valerie Mandujano
Here’s a look at the top FPO storylines headed into this weekend…
1️⃣ Handley Returns to a Proven Formula
Holyn Handley arrives in Portland as both the defending Northwest Disc Golf Championship winner and the current DGPT Powerball World Standings leader. Fresh off a victory at the OTB Open, she now holds a 24.34-point lead over Ohn Scoggins atop the standings. Oregon has become one of Handley’s strongest regions on tour.
Across Northwest Disc Golf Championship, Beaver State Fling, and Portland Open history, she owns 2 wins, 4 podiums, and 4 top-10 finishes in 5 starts. She also holds several of the premier scoring performances in event history, including the Portland Open course-record 1031-rated round in 2024 and a share of the NWDGC round record with a 1024-rated 57 in the final round last year. Returning to the site of her 2025 victory, Handley enters as both the defending champion and the player everyone else is chasing.
2️⃣ Ohn Scoggins’ 21 Straight & Counting
Ohn Scoggins enters Northwest Disc Golf Championship carrying the longest active top-10 streak in FPO, with 21 consecutive top-10 finishes at Elite Series and Major events dating back to the 2025 Cascade Challenge. Her consistency has translated directly into the DGPT Powerball World Standings, where she sits in second just 24.34 points behind Holyn Handley.
Oregon has historically been one of her strongest stops. Across eight starts at Portland-area Elite Series events, she has never finished outside the top 10 and has collected four podiums. Among the current top 10 in DGPT standings, she leads C2 putting at 26.40%. While she is still searching for her first Northwest title, few players enter the event with a stronger combination of course history and season-long consistency.
3️⃣ Can Silva Saarinen Close the Gap?
Silva Saarinen currently sits in third in the DGPT Powerball World Standings and continues to build one of the strongest statistical profiles in the division. Through six DGPT events this season, she leads the FPO field in birdie rate (42.59%), fairway hits (82.91%), and total strokes gained per round (6.29). Since capturing the 2026 PDGA Champions Cup, Saarinen has remained a fixture near the top of leaderboards and recently added another victory at the Cascade Challenge, a JomezPro Series event held the week before the trip to Portland.
This will be her first appearance at both the Northwest Disc Golf Championship and in Portland, but she arrives with the momentum of a player who has already proven capable of winning at the highest level. Despite the gap between Saarinen and second-place Ohn Scoggins in the standings at nearly 150 points, another strong finish could further establish her as the leading challenger to the Handley-Scoggins battle at the top.
4️⃣ Paige Pierce Returns to Oregon
Paige Pierce enters the week outside the top 15 in the DGPT Powerball World Standings, but few players can match her historical success in Oregon. Across Portland Open, Beaver State Fling, and Northwest Disc Golf Championship history, Pierce owns 5 victories, 12 podium finishes, and 14 top-10s in 14 starts, giving her the best win total and best average finish (2.14) of any player in the field.
She won the Portland Open in 2019, 2021, and 2024, added Beaver State Fling victories in 2017 and 2019, and shared the NWC round record last year with a 1024-rated round 2 (-10). While her 2026 season has not yet produced a signature result, Oregon has consistently brought out some of her best performances. With a track record unmatched by anyone in the field, Pierce remains one of the most intriguing contenders.
5️⃣ A New Threat in FPO Every Week
One of the defining themes of the 2026 FPO season has been the depth throughout the division. Of the 35 players who have competed in at least five Tour events this season, 24 have already recorded a top-10 finish. The parity is also reflected in the winners list, where six different players have already claimed victories through the opening stretch of the season: Henna Blomroos, Jessica Gurthie, Holyn Handley, Silva Saarinen, Eveliina Salonen, and Ohn Scoggins.
At the same time, several notable names inside the current top 20 of the DGPT Powerball World Standings will not be in attendance, including Blomroos (8th), Salonen (9th), Hanna Huynh (11th), and Sintija Klezberga (20th). Even with those absences, the field remains loaded with contenders, reinforcing how much deeper and more competitive the FPO division has become compared to previous seasons.
NORTHWEST CHAMPIONSHIP: MPO LOOKAHEAD
- MPO1 Feature Card: Gannon Buhr, Calvin Heimburg, Isaac Robinson, & Kyle Klein
- MPO2 Feature Card: Anthony Barela, Cole Redalen, Nate Sexton, & Albert Tamm
Here’s a look at the top MPO storylines headed into this weekend…
1️⃣ Gannon Buhr’s Portland Dominance
Gannon Buhr enters the Northwest Disc Golf Championship with a statistical profile that continues to separate him from the rest of the MPO field. He has won each of the last three DGPT events played in Portland, capturing the 2024 Beaver State Fling, 2024 Portland Open, and 2025 Northwest Disc Golf Championship. No other player has matched that level of recent success in Oregon. Buhr also arrives with a 155-round streak of consecutive 1020-rated rounds at Elite Series and Major standard stroke play events, the longest such streak in MPO history. The next closest streak belongs to Richard Wysocki at 70 rounds, less than half of Buhr’s current mark.
His consistency has translated directly into results, as he leads the DGPT World Standings by more than 350 points and has not finished worse than a tie for seventh all season (Open at Austin). Returning to a region where he has won three consecutive Elite Series starts, Buhr arrives with both the strongest recent course history and one of the most remarkable consistency streaks the sport has ever seen.
2️⃣ Calvin Heimburg Back in the Winner’s Circle
Calvin Heimburg enters Portland fresh off his playoff victory at the OTB Open, a win that extended his streak of consecutive seasons with an Elite Series or Major victory to eight years, tied for the fifth-longest run in MPO history. The victory also marked an important turning point in what had been a relatively slow start by his standards, moving him up to second in the DGPT World Standings.
Beyond the win, Heimburg continues to build one of the most impressive reliability streaks in the sport. His active cash streak now sits at 85 consecutive Elite Series and Major events, the longest active streak in MPO and eighth-longest all-time. Another strong stretch could move him into the top five on that list before the season ends. Since the beginning of 2023, only Gannon Buhr has recorded more top-five finishes at Elite Series and Major events. With renewed momentum and multiple historical streaks still alive, Heimburg arrives in Portland as one of the biggest threats to Buhr’s recent dominance.
3️⃣ Ricky Wysocki Northwest Standard
Richard Wysocki enters the Northwest Disc Golf Championship third in the DGPT World Standings, but his history in Oregon remains among the strongest of any player in the field. Dating back to June 2012, Wysocki has recorded 14 consecutive top-10 finishes at Oregon Elite Series and Major events, including 12 top-five finishes during that stretch. No player has accumulated more Oregon top-10 finishes than Wysocki, who also owns two victories in the state at the 2016 and 2017 Beaver State Fling.
His consistency extends well beyond regional success. Wysocki currently carries an active 62-event cash streak at Elite Series and Major events, the second-longest active streak in MPO behind Heimburg and the longest of his career (11th all-time). While Buhr has controlled recent Portland events, few players have demonstrated the same combination of longevity and consistency in Oregon that Wysocki has maintained for more than a decade.
4️⃣ Eagle McMahon’s Return to Familiar Ground
Few players have enjoyed a stronger run in Portland than Eagle McMahon. Between 2018 and 2023, he won four DGPT events (including a DGPT Silver event) in Oregon and added a runner-up finish at the 2019 Portland Open, losing only in a playoff to Drew Gibson. That stretch included victories at the 2018 and 2019 Beaver State Fling and the 2021 Portland Open, establishing Eagle as one of the region’s defining players.
More recently, however, those results have cooled. In the three Elite Series events held in Portland during 2024 and 2025, he hasn’t finished inside the top-10 (12th, 10th, 12th). Even with those finishes, Eagle remains tied with Gannon Buhr for the most Oregon Tour victories among active players, with three. Portland has historically brought out some of the best golf of his career, making this event an opportunity to see whether he can return to that level against the strongest field in the world.
5️⃣ A Preview of the 2027 World Championship Stage
This week’s Northwest Disc Golf Championship carries significance beyond the 2026 season. The same Portland-area courses, Milo McIver and Glendoveer East, are scheduled to host the 2027 PDGA Pro World Championships, making this one of the final opportunities for players to gather meaningful competitive data before the sport’s biggest event arrives. Recent results already suggest who may be positioned to thrive on these layouts.
Gannon Buhr has won each of the last three Elite Series events played in Portland, while Richard Wysocki has not finished outside the top 10 in Oregon since 2012. Eagle McMahon owns four Portland-area DGPT and Silver victories, and Adam Hammes won the 2023 Portland Open. With many of the sport’s biggest names returning to the future Worlds venue, performances this weekend could become an early reference point when conversations about 2027 contenders begin in earnest.
All the action starts on Thursday, June 4th! Tune in to the Disc Golf Network and catch post-pro coverage from JomezPro all weekend.
