FPO Lookahead
The 2024 WACO Annual Charity Open promises excitement for disc golf fans, particularly in the FPO division, with a competitive showdown brewing amongst a full field of elite women players. Kristin Tattar, the world’s number one, enters as the defending WACO champion, heightening anticipation for her first performance of the year. Notably, the last six years have seen six different winners at WACO, highlighting the event’s unpredictability for the FPO field. 2020 champion Eveliina Salonen, fresh off her Chess.com victory, adds intrigue, and Ella Hansen seeks redemption after finishing as the 2023 runner-up.
The FPO division guarantees intense competition, given the diverse list of recent champions and the exceptional skill of the athletes. Kristin Tattar, with a record-breaking 2023 season, aims to continue her dominance, while contenders like Catrina Allen and Paige Pierce bring their impressive track records and proven success at the bEast. The 2024 WACO FPO division will showcase the dynamic and competitive nature of the field with a mix of seasoned champions and rising stars.
MPO Lookahead
Top MPO professionals face unique challenges in their pursuit of the championship title. Defending champion Kyle Klein, coming off a USDGC win in 2023, is expected to mount a strong title defense after finishing 5th at the 2024 Chess.com Invitational. Anthony Barela, the Chess.com champion, faces a challenge at WACO, having yet to break into the top 20 in his two previous starts.
The tournament highlights two multiple-time winners, Jeremy Koling (2017 and 2018) and Paul McBeth (2019 and 2022), with McBeth holding the course record of 49 (-18) from 2019. This year’s competition gains intrigue with adding the new Lake Waco Golf Club to the familiar Brazos East course. Players must prove their mettle on the challenging WACO terrain to emerge victorious.
