1) Wysocki’s European Triumph!

Ricky Wysocki continues his dominance on the Disc Golf Pro Tour with an epic performance at the 2024 European Disc Golf Festival. Wysocki secured his 3rd Tour event* victory this season, surpassing his last season’s total of 2 Tour event* wins.

Shooting a 1073 event rating—the fourth best of the DGPT season—Wysocki led the field with a remarkable 69% birdie percentage, in reaching both C1 (63%) and C2 (83%) in regulation, and an impressive 19.61 strokes gained from tee-to-green.

His insane opening round of -16, earning an unofficial 1119-rating, not only marked his career’s highest-rated round but also became the 3rd highest in disc golf history and the highest in the last decade. His opening round is now the highest rated round ever shot at sanctioned competition in Europe. This incredible achievement pushed his record to 10 1100+ rated rounds, surpassing Paul McBeth’s tally of 7, and further cementing Wysocki’s legacy in the sport.

The tournament scenery and spectator experience was a thrilling spectacle in its own right, combined with a classic showdown between Wysocki and McBeth. Despite McBeth’s valiant effort to close the gap to just 1-stroke by Hole 18, Wysocki maintained his composure to clinch the win.

This victory adds to his impressive streak this season, including a 1st-place finish at the Krokhol Open and of course his 2nd place finish at the European Open. Notably, Wysocki has now graced the podium in 6 of his last 7 events and has consistently finished within the top-20 throughout the season. It’s safe to say that Rick is heating up at a perfect time with the PDGA Pro World Championships just a few weeks away.

With this win, he solidifies his position in 2nd place in the DGPT World Standings, closely trailing Gannon Buhr, who finished tied for 10th in this tournament. Wysocki’s exceptional consistency and skill continue to captivate fans and assert his status as one of the sport’s elite players.

2) Missy Gannon’s Victory Lap!

Missy Gannon clinched a thrilling victory at the 2024 European Disc Golf Festival, edging out Eveliina Salonen in a nail-biting 1-hole playoff.

Salonen’s remarkable 6-hole birdie streak pushed the competition into overtime, and she dominated the final round with a 28% parked percentage and a 56% birdie rate.

However, Gannon’s consistency shone through as she led the field with a 43% birdie rate (23/54), an impressive 85% fairway hit percentage, and a 76% rate of reaching C2 in regulation—all while committing just three OBs over the weekend.

This victory marks Gannon’s 4th Tour event* win of the season and her 9th career win, tying her with the legendary Elaine King for 9th all-time in FPO wins. Of her last 9 events, Missy has 4 podiums with 3 wins, and this season she has only finished outside the top-10 once.

With this win, she continues to lead in the DGPT World Standings with none other than Eveliina Salonen closely following. With 2 Tour victories in 2023, Gannon is on an exciting trajectory to set her new personal best for the most wins in a single season, further solidifying her status as “Big Money” Missy.

3) McBeast Mode Activated!

It hasn’t gone unnoticed to see 6x World Champion, Paul McBeth, starting to make a strong comeback after an injury and welcoming a new addition to his family.

This season, he’s been steadily climbing back to the top with 4 podium finishes, including 3 in his last 4 events, signaling a return to form.

McBeth’s injury in 2023 limited his play, resulting in just a single podium finish and victory at the PCS Open, alongside only 3 top-10 finishes. However, he’s already racked up 7 top-10 finishes this season, showcasing significant progress.

As we head towards the Ledgestone Open—a tournament McBeth has won twice before, in 2016 and 2019—the disc golf community is buzzing with anticipation for a breakthrough performance.

Another podium finish or victory could be the perfect boost for McBeth to capitalize on his momentum, with another World title potentially just around the corner.

* Tour event wins include standard DGPT, DGPT+, DGPT Playoff events, and PDGA Pro Majors
