In the Know: Your Guide to Watching the Dynamic Discs Open with Top Storylines & Stats

The 2024 Dynamic Discs Open is fast approaching, and all eyes are on Champions Landing (formerly known as Emporia Country Club) for what promises to be an exciting clash between some of the best disc golfers in the world. With reigning champions trying to defend their titles and potential upsets on the horizon, fans are eagerly anticipating the event. The Dynamic Discs Open will feature top-notch skill, strategy, and determination on the greens of Champions Landing.

FPO LOOKAHEAD – Storylines to Watch This Weekend

All eyes are on a clash of the titans: Hialey King, the two-time and reigning Dynamic Discs Open champion, is looking to reclaim her throne. With an impeccable track record at the Champions Landing, King aims to secure her first victory of this season amidst some seriously stiff competition. Meanwhile, Holyn Handley seeks redemption after falling short in a playoff against King last year. Handley, boasting consecutive podium finishes in Emporia, including a second place at the 2023 Dynamic Discs Open and a third-place at the 2022 Worlds, is determined to ascend to the top of the podium this time. Adding to the intrigue, Ohn Scoggins, one of the PDGA’s highest-rated players in the field, returns to Emporia for the first appearance since her seventh-place finish at the 2022 Worlds.

MPO LOOKAHEAD – Storylines to Watch This Weekend

Following Andrew Presnell’s remarkable victory at the PDGA Champions Cup, attention shifts to Emporia, where last year’s dark horse, Parker Welck, aims to defend his title. Welck, renowned for his surprising triumph as the lowest-rated player (1010) ever to secure a DGPT event, endeavors to recreate his fairy tale narrative amidst an intensely competitive field. Nevertheless, Welck faces formidable adversaries, with seasoned veteran Ricky Wysocki among them. Wysocki arrives, boasting consecutive podium finishes and a rich history at Emporia, having clinched the 2022 Dynamic Discs Open championship and the 2016 Worlds title on these courses

Additionally, Calvin Heimburg, fueled by a desire for redemption following a narrow miss last year, seeks to leverage his status as the highest-rated player in the field and claim his first victory of the season. With Anthony Barela and Gannon Buhr maintaining flawless records of top-ten finishes this season, alongside contenders like Chris Dickerson and Matt Orum poised for success, the stage is primed for an electrifying showdown at Champions Landing.
