Kristin Tattar: Named DGPT FPO Player of the Year

Kristin Tattar’s journey through the disc golf world this season was nothing short of legendary, marked by an unprecedented series of triumphs that left competitors in awe. A force to be reckoned with, she not only claimed victory in all four Majors but also secured the top spot in the DGPT Standings with an astounding 1,328.50 points — an all-time DGPT record.

What sets her apart is not just the number of wins but the manner in which she achieved them. Kristin became the first FPO player to conquer every Major in a single season, a feat previously unachieved by anyone in her division (in a season with at least 4 Majors). Her dominance extended beyond Majors, with a total of 11 victories across Major, Elite, and Silver events.

Regardless of which disc golf World Ranking you prefer, in 2023 you would’ve found Tattar at the top of the FPO list. Throughout the 2023 season the accolades continued to pour in as Kristin shattered records, breaking her own single-season cash record and setting a new standard for all divisions at an impressive $116,247 earned in tournament winnings over the course of the year. Notably, this remarkable achievement occurred without claiming the substantial $40,000 winner’s payout at the 2023 DGPT Championship.

Outside of her 1st place victories and cash records, Kristin’s 2023 season stats also tell a story of sheer dominance. Tattar’s PDGA player rating reached 999 in 2023, an all time high not just for Tattar, but for the entire FPO division. Furthermore, Kristin excelled in every aspect of disc golf in 2023, over the course of the season she led the FPO division in a slew of key statistics including Fairway Hits (78%), Circle 2 in Regulation (66%), Birdie Rate (38%), and Scramble Rate (48%). In addition, Tattar didn’t finish outside of the top 10 in any of the key statistical categories as tracked by UDisc Live.

As the season concluded, the disc golf community acknowledged Kristin’s extraordinary accomplishments by awarding her the prestigious title of 2023 Elaine King Player of the Year. The voting process reflected unanimous acclaim, with Kristin receiving 100% of the first-place votes from media voters. In a year filled with awe-inspiring performances, Kristin Tattar’s unparalleled success has etched her name into disc golf history, leaving an indelible mark on the sport, let’s not forget some of the unforgettable moments that helped make a historic season for Kristin Tattar.

Kristin’s first Major win of 2023 came at the Champion’s Cup, an event where she previously suffered an agonizing defeat in 2022. A dominant performance in 2023 helped her secure the win in redemptive fashion.

At the 2023 European Open, Tattar secured a ‘career’ Grand Slam by winning the only active Major she had previously not been victorious at. Ironically, Tattar became the first European player (by nationality) to take home the event’s top prize.

During the 2023 PDGA World Championship Kristin Tattar went wire to wire. With victory seemingly never in doubt, Tattar easily secured back to back World Championship wins.

In 2019 Kristin Tattar won her first PDGA Major at the US Women’s Disc Golf Championship. In 2023 she secured her 2nd USWDGC win and her FOURTH Major victory of the 2023 season, securing the incredibly rare and elusive 2023 season Grand Slam.

While Kristin Tattar showcased undeniable dominance in clinching the 2023 DGPT POTY, let’s not overlook the other standout candidates who delivered exceptional performances in their own right during the 2023 season:

  • 2023 Masters World Champion and the best putter on the FPO tour in 2023 Ohn Scoggins who took down the Discraft Great Lakes Open and finished on the podium 13X this season.
