Bogey-free 993-rated round by Silva Saarinen on the moving day of the PDGA Euro Tour Championship to take a four-shot lead over Jenni Karppinen.

The day dawned cool, and Karppinen struggled to get a good grip on her putters, which cost her a bogey on the 3rd hole, but it was Silva who would hit the beautiful holes around the island to string together four birdies in a row and pull away slightly in the standings.

At this point, the temperature rose, and both players offered an extremely solid game without any more bogeys, leaving everything to be decided on Sunday.

In the meantime, Birgit Vider is now firmer in third place, improving on yesterday’s score, as also did local player Aida Rey, who is still struggling with the pressure of these rounds with so much media attention.

The general classification of the PDGA Euro Tour Championship has not been clarified during the moving day, but it has been tightened, with seven players within three shots of the leader!

Silver Lätt told us in the final interview that, curiously, despite having ideal conditions for disc golf today, his feelings were strange, with problems both in his forehand and with the putt, and his round of -3 is enough to keep the lead but only by one stroke.

He was also delighted with the course and, in fact, announced that this winter he was going to spend a week of training on it plus another in nearby Mijas (Malaga) with his wife, the FPO World Champion Kristin Tattar.

“Two young Finnish players approach the lead with a brilliant play.” Sound familiar? It is not the first time that Miro Ryhänen (setting the course record at -9, 1048 rated) with a very clean card, except for an OB on the short 16th, and his compatriot Elias Luukkonen (with an annoying irritation in one leg) stand without complexes in the final fight of a tournament of the highest European level.

And if we wanted excitement, no less than three players tied for fourth place: Czech Jakub Semerád, who shot a -5 with a dazzling front nine and a more discreet back nine, and two pleasant surprises: his fellow countryman Matěj Vojtík stepped up when it mattered most and with a brilliant -8 he is a stone’s throw away from achieving what would be the most important victory of his sporting life, and the Dutchman Rienk Kan, who was relaxed and under no pressure at all despite being up there: that’s how the best results are achieved!
