This is why we watch disc golf. For the tension of close competition. Both the FPO and the MPO divisions are packed atop the leaderboard here for round one of
the Waco Annual Charity Open presented by Dynamic Discs. In the women’s division, Sarah Hokom walked away from round one in the lead. In the men’s division it is with great pleasure, as a southpaw, that I let you know Devan Owens, the lefty out of Owasso, OK, is in first place.
On the FPO side, the day was filled with action. Sarah Hokom currently holds the top spot with a one-under par. She leads the division in Fairway Hits and putting inside circle 1. She’s making the least mistakes and reaping the rewards. Catrina Allen started hot, but cooled off on the back nine, finishing even with par, she is holding sole possession of second place. Struggling with the putter, Paige Pierce is in third place, at two over par. Rounding out the lead card tomorrow is Lisa Fajkus, at three over par. Read our in-depth coverage of the women’s division here .
Owens may hold the top spot on his own right now but he is not lonely. There are 23 players within only five throws. With two rounds to play Owen’s will have to play as well as he did today if not better. Rounding out the Lead Card with Owens 11 under is Paul McBeth and Jeremy Koling (the 2017 WACO Champ)  tied for second at 10 under par, and Gregg Barsby getting lead card rights in a five-way tie at 9 under par. Live coverage of the Waco Annual Charity Open Presented by Dynamic Discs starts every day at 4 PM ET March 15 th through 17 th with recap articles for every round for both divisions. You can catch the FPO action during our live coverage of the Men’s feature and lead cards each day. Until then, if you live somewhere warm enough get out there and throw some plastic for those of us up North who just got snowed in again!
