The Jonesboro Open presented by Prodiscus has come to a close. As we saw across the weekend, Ricky Wysocki and Garrett Gurthie wrote the story. The chase card made a push at
the beginning of the third round, seeing Eric Oakley moving within one for more than a few holes, but ultimately Ricky Wysocki came out with his second Jonesboro Open win.
Eric Oakley started the day three for three and made it through clean until hole 14 where he threw OB off the tee. Eric was able to recover and birdie fifteen, eagle sixteen, and birdied seventeen. By the time he was on 18’s green he knew the best he could finish was top five and ultimately he secured a tie for third place with a par.
Eric was not the only person on the chase card who made a push. At one point Eric, Eagle, and Feldberg were all tied for second. However, both ended up shooting -8 on the day which landed Dave tied for fifth and Eagle in seventh.
On the lead card Garrett Gurthie pushed throughout the day to try to reclaim the top spot here in Jonesboro. He carded a bogey on hole five after going OB on the drive, other than that Double G had a spectacular round, shooting an eight down for his final round.
Ricky started the day with a two throw lead and did not look back. Ricky did not end up carding the hot round for the day but he did come close, throwing -10 with two bogeys. Ricky set the pace early, going three for three while Double G landed pars on his first two holes. This gave Ricky the cushion he needed to maintain his lead throughout the day.
This is Ricky’s first Pro Tour win of the season. The Pro Tour will be on a brief hiatus while the Pros travel to GBO and The Master’s Cup. We will return for the San Francisco Open May 25-27th, our fourth stop on the 2018 Disc Golf Pro Tour.
