The Waco Annual Charity Open presented by Prodigy has been designated and will be operating in Phase 1 of the DGPT COVID-19 Policies & Best Practices Document. The Phase 1 Overview provides important highlights of the full policy for quicker reference and can be found on the DGPT COVID Overview Webpage along with all other COVID-19 information pertaining to the DGPT.
The WACO team and the DGPT have worked with the City of Waco and the Parks department to ensure the event can run in accordance with City guidance which limits what events can operate. In order to keep overall event number down, Phase 1 of the DGPT COVID-19 Policy prohibits spectators and caddies.
“Our partnership with the City of Waco has been an invaluable key to the success of this event over the years. We respect their guidance and will continue to follow the event limitations and protocols set forth. More importantly, we value the safety and health of the players who travel to participate in this event, and wish to send them off to the next event in the same condition they arrived. We are excited to be in a position to have a great tournament here in Waco and look forward to going full send at the next one,” said Ryan Draper, WACO Tournament Director.

The Disc Golf Pro Tour will also run the Open at Belton in Phase 1. “We want to provide consistency for competitors, and will not jump into Phase 2 events until we are confident that there is an opportunity to continue the tour in Phase 2,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO & Director. “While we are excited to welcome spectators back eventually, we feel it is in the best interest of our staff, the competitors, the media and the event teams to keep DGPT events in Phase 1 at this time.”
