The Disc Golf Pro Tour is excited to announce an addition to the 2021 Tour Schedule with the PCS Sula Open July 7-10. The event will see the merging of the PCS and Sula Open into one large-scale event.
This will be the Disc Golf Pro Tour’s first international event on the Elite Series. Taking place the weekend before The European Open, it falls in line with the European swing of the season.
The Disc Golf Pro Tour worked together with the PDGA, PDGA Europe, and the Euro Tour to identify the best event to add to the Tour. With the merging of the PCS and Sula Open’s into one event, the PCS Sula Open will be one of the top three largest tournaments outside the USA alongside the European Open and Tyyni.
The addition of a European event has been a goal of Tour Director Jeff Spring for a while, “The Disc Golf Pro Tour has been looking for an opportunity to expand into the European disc golf scene. After talking with the PDGA we worked together with PDGA Europe to land what promises to be one of the more picturesque stops on Tour with the combined PCS Sula Open.”
In working together, the PCS Sula Open will be a joint Euro Tour and DGPT event, so players collect points towards both standings. A joint stop will bring additional eyes to the Euro Tour and bring more international recognition to players on Tour in Europe who might not otherwise be noticed outside of the continent.
Euro Tour Director Matej Verl is excited for the international recognition coming to the PCS Sula Open, “Having DGPT appearance in Europe is a huge step towards international recognition of Euro Tour and European disc golf. It starts with DGPT moving to Europe for one event in 2021, streaming it live on DGN, but there will also be post-produced video coverage of all the Euro Tour events next year for the first time ever and this is where the excitement comes in.”
PCS Open Tournament Director Sivert Øveraas is looking forward to the strength that will come with combining the event with the Sula Open, “The PCS Open crew is more than excited to be a part of the EuroTour and DGPT in 2021! We had some big ambitions when starting the PCS Open back in 2016, and it’s crazy to see that only 5 years later Øverås Diskgolfpark will be a venue of a DGPT-event. The PCS Open has developed into something very special in a short period of time, and together with our friends from Sula Open we are ready to present two beautiful courses, some lovely scenery, and a unique disc golf experience for the top players in the world! Welcome to Ragnarok!”
