For Immediate Release:
Cascade Challenge Location Update
February 11, 2023: The Cascade Challenge, a new DGPT Silver Event on the 2023 schedule, is moving to Shelton Springs disc golf course in Shelton, WA. The event will still take place May 26 – 28.
While initially scheduled to take place at Kayak Point in Stanwood, WA, the tournament has been moved to Shelton Springs based on updated information regarding cellular infrastructure capabilities on site. DGPT will continue to work towards delivering a live broadcast at Kayak Point for 2024, working with the on-site team directly.
“Kayak Point Disc Golf Resort is a fantastic venue with a lot of potential to host Elite level competition,” said DGPT CEO & Tour Director Jeff Spring. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with the resort and are excited about its potential to host a 2024 tour spot.”
Shelton Springs is an area favorite, located less than 90 miles from downtown Seattle and features three layouts that will be used to create a new competition layout for the tournament this spring. The course features a few open holes but primarily consists of tight lines carved through an old-growth evergreen forest with plenty of gaps off the tee – a quintessential Pacific Northwest disc golf course. The event will have strong support from Mason County Disc Golf Club, which manages the course and has close connections with the local community.
Ratings-based registration for the Cascade Challenge will open on Monday, February 13, at www.discgolfscene.com. Tickets will be available for purchase soon afterward on DGPT.com/tickets.
