A New Postseason Cadence
One of the defining changes for the 2027 DGPT season is a new postseason cadence that shifts the Playoffs to begin after the United States Disc Golf Championship. The 2027 Elite Series season will begin and conclude approximately two weeks later than in previous years, opening with the Supreme Flight Open in mid-March and ending with the Powerball Cup in early November. This new schedule format will bring the USDGC into the DGPT Powerball World Standings race for the first time, allowing MPO competitors to earn points at the final Major of the year before the Playoffs begin.
“Integrating the USDGC into the MPO Powerball® DGPT World Standings is a positive change we’ve been working towards with the DGPT Player Council for several years,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO and Tour Director. “Next October, we are excited to see players competing for Tour points alongside the U.S. title for the first time.”
Next season will also see changes to the locations of the Powerball® DGPT Playoffs, and will bring the Powerball Cup to Austin, TX, for the first time. While there will be two stops in the city next year, players will compete at separate venues on opposite ends of the schedule, similar to the Queen City Classic and the USDGC. The Austin host venue for the 2027 Powerball Cup will be announced in the coming months.
“We look forward to building on our work in one of disc golf’s largest markets in partnership with the Austin Sports Commission and deepening our connection with the wider Austin community,” continued Spring.
Ahead of the Powerball Cup, the DGPT is working with the Ledgestone Disc Golf team to host a playoff event at Ivy Hill Golf Club in Forest, VA. This event is a part of the newly announced three-year deal between the two organizations, and will host players for four days of competition ahead of the Kansas City Wide Open, which has been upgraded to Playoff status after two exciting years back on the Elite Series schedule. The Green Mountain Championship and MVP Open – both of which have hosted Playoff events for the past several years – will remain on the schedule under the DGPT+ designation.
DGPT Adds Seven New Stops with Expanded JomezPro Series
The 2027 season will introduce seven new events through an expanded JomezPro Series, debuting DGPT competition in new markets and returning to several established disc golf communities. The series will begin with an early-season event at the Greater Atlanta Open (Conyers, GA) and conclude with the first-ever JomezPro Series event in Canada at the Greater Toronto Open (Milton, ON, Canada).
The 2027 lineup also includes the Blue Ridge Championship at North Cove in Marion, North Carolina; the Tulsa Open at POSTOAK, which will introduce the DGPT to Oklahoma with a newly revamped course at POSTOAK Lodge & Retreat Center; the Morley Field Classic in San Diego, marking the Tour’s return to Southern California; the Redwood Open at Brooktrails in Mendocino County; and the Eagles Crossing Open hosted by Go Throw at one of the top-ranked U.S. disc golf destinations located in Hawk Point, Missouri.
The growth of the JomezPro Series reflects the DGPT’s continued commitment to investing in new locations, highlighting exciting courses, and growing partnerships with communities eager to welcome the fans and players alike. With nearly two full months of JomezPro Series competition weekends now locked in for 2027, the DGPT is excited to offer more opportunities for touring pros in between Elite Series stops and deliver an expanded slate of JomezPro competition coverage for fans all season long.
More information about these new tournaments and how the JomezPro Series is growing can be found here: JomezPro Series Adds Seven New Stops to the 2027 DGPT Schedule.
Building a Connected EuroTour for 2027
Today, the DGPT is also introducing an updated EuroTour structure for 2027, bringing Europe’s biggest regional and national competitions together within a connected, season-long points race from May through September.
The 2027 EuroTour will include the European Open, two DGPT Elite Series events, the biennial European Disc Golf Championships, three additional EuroTour A-Tiers, and an additional set of qualifying National and Regional Championships from across Europe. The structure gives players more opportunities to compete for EuroTour points throughout the European summer swing while connecting the continent’s most important events within a single standings race. The European Disc Golf Festival will serve as the first European Elite Series event next season, with the second Elite Series stop to be announced soon.
An important addition to the EuroTour is the 2027 European Disc Golf Championships in Tampere, Finland, which will award EuroTour points alongside the European Open. National and Regional Championships held during a designated championship weekend will also be eligible to award EuroTour points, recognizing the importance of these events to individual countries and their disc golf communities.
The season will conclude with the EuroTour Finale in Pärnu, Estonia, giving players one final opportunity to move up the EuroTour standings and compete for 2028 Tour Card qualification. The updated structure will continue to award Full Tour Cards and EuroTour Cards based on the final 2027 EuroTour standings, creating a clear pathway for European players to earn access to the Tour Card program in 2028.

Building for the Future
The 2027 schedule reflects the Disc Golf Pro Tour’s continued effort to build the strongest possible calendar across North America and Europe. As the Tour grows, earning a place on the schedule is becoming increasingly competitive, with the DGPT balancing established events and top markets with opportunities to expand into new regions, develop new partnerships, and create full event experiences that bring more fans to the course year after year. Growing spectator attendance and enhancing the event experience will remain key priorities as the Tour builds the schedule for 2028 and beyond.
Thus, some familiar events will not appear on the schedule in 2027, and may not return immediately thereafter. In some cases, event teams may take a year off to redevelop and reinvest in their events or pursue other projects within the sport, such as the Discmania Challenge, which will return to the competition calendar in 2028. The Discmania Challenge is organized each year by Event Director Ty Tannatt, who also serves in a full-time capacity as the DGPT Retail and Partnerships Director.
“We’re excited to bring the Discmania Challenge back to the Tour in 2028 and make it our best year yet,” said Tannatt.“Next season, my efforts will be dedicated to helping our team make the most out of the 2027 World Championships in Portland, and assisting with the launch of several new events across the DGPT calendar where I look forward to helping create the same kind of player and fan experiences that have defined the Discmania Challenge and keep our team excited to return to Des Moines down the road.”
In other cases, events may take longer planning cycles or bid for spots on the JomezPro Series or Q-Series on a yearly basis. All DGPT, JomezPro Series, and EuroTour events from 2026 and prior remain part of the Tour’s broader network of event teams and potential host venues.
“As we approach the end of the 2026 season and look ahead to 2027 and beyond, the reality is that the Disc Golf Pro Tour now has partnerships with more great teams and host communities than we have spots on the calendar each year,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO and Tour Director. “This is not a problem to be solved, but rather a positive sign of where professional disc golf is today and where it’s going in the future. As more communities invest in the sport, more event teams go above and beyond to create great experiences, and more people choose to attend events in person, the Tour’s schedule is going to evolve. While players, partners, and fans will see changes to the schedule each year, what stays the same is our commitment to creating the stage for professional disc golf to thrive.”
