2026 Powerball® Cup to Award Record-Setting Projected Purse of $350,000
$50k First Place Prize to be Awarded in Both Divisions
February 25, 2026: The Disc Golf Pro Tour is pleased to announce that this year’s Powerball Cup will set a new all-time record for the largest purse in disc golf history. The newly named DGPT Championship is projected to award a total prize of $350,000, with the FPO and MPO winners each projected to take home a first-place prize of $50,000. The final payout schedule will be announced later this year.
“We’re thankful to Powerball for their partnership in making this the largest single-event payout in the history of the sport,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO.“This milestone reflects our continued mission of building a stage for the best players in the world and setting a new bar for the professional disc golf industry. We are looking forward to watching the winners of this year’s Powerball Cup walk away with a combined $100,000 in prize winnings.”
For the past three seasons, the Tour has employed a starting stroke format for the Championship. Introduced in 2023, the format has gone through several iterations and was designed to recognize season-long performance by awarding qualified players a competitive position that reflected their standing in the season-long points race.
With the DGPT Championship now evolving into the Powerball Cup, the Tour has begun a comprehensive review of the event’s competition format. This process, which may result in changes to the format as early as this year, includes a review of player, fan, and partner feedback, considers the on-site and online spectator experience, and is being conducted in collaboration with the DGPT Player Council.
“This year, the Tour Championship has already begun to find a new identity with Powerball coming on board as title sponsor, and we are working hand in hand with our stakeholders to explore options for evolving the format as well,” continued Spring. “In undertaking this process, our primary goals remain unchanged, which are to meaningfully recognize and reward season-long player performance and create a thrilling weekend of competition for the whole disc golf community to enjoy as we put a capstone on the year.”
Any updates to the Powerball Cup format for this year or beyond will be announced following the conclusion of the review process.
Invites for the 2026 Powerball Cup will be sent to qualified competitors after the conclusion of the 2026 MVP Open x OTB, and competition will take place from October 15 – 18th in Lynchburg, VA. Tickets for the Powerball Cup are on sale at tickets.dgpt.com.
