UPDATE – Oct 14. 2025: After issuing invites to the 54 players who qualified for the DGPT Championship, the final field of competitors has been updated based on several declined invites.

Hailey King is recovering from an ankle injury, and declined her MVP Open wild card invite. Thus, the Tour offered her spot to the next player in the World Standings, which is the current rule for declined invites. Emily Weatherman was next in line, but is unable to attend, and thus the spot was ultimately awarded to Raven Klein, who finished in 23rd on the FPO World Standings.

On the MPO side, all competitors who earned invites via normal qualification methods (World Standings, MVP Open finish) have registered. The only MPO player who will not attend is Mauri Villmann, who qualified via the event winner rule at the Konopiště Open but is unable to attend due to other obligations. Special event winner invites are not passed to other players, and thus the MPO field is final at 33.

54 Players Compete for Over $250,000 Pro Purse With Adjusted Starting Strokes

October 2, 2025: In two weeks, the top 54 professional disc golf players in the world will compete for a total purse of over $250,000 at the 2025 Disc Golf Pro Tour Championship presented by Barbasol. The Disc Golf Pro Tour is proud to deliver the highest pro purse of the season, with FPO and MPO Champions being awarded co-equal $30,000 first-place prizes.

2025 DGPT CHAMPIONSHIP TOP PAYOUTS

Competition will take place from Thursday, Oct. 16, to Sunday, Oct. 19, in Bedford County and Lynchburg, VA. Rounds one and two will be held at a newly updated New London Tech, with the final two rounds contested at Ivy Hill Golf Club.

The final list of qualified players includes 46 competitors (18 FPO & 28 MPO) who earned a spot at the Championship based on their final position in the DGPT World Standings. The final 6 players (2 FPO & 4 MPO) qualified via their performance at the MVP Open as a part of an updated qualification structure that allowed players outside the World Standings cut line to earn their way into the season finale based on performance at the DGPT Playoffs. Two additional MPO players, Mauri Villman (Konopiště Champion) and Ben Callaway (Krokhol Champion), earned invites based on the rule allowing Elite Series and Majors Winners to enter if they do not qualify based on the World Standings or at the MVP Open.

Players have been awarded a starting stroke advantage commensurate with their final ranking on the DGPT World Standings, with players who qualified at the MVP Open and others near the cut line starting at even par for the tournament. The Tour has also updated the starting stroke advantage scale, with the #1 player in FPO and MPO both being awarded an eight-stroke advantage, down from ten strokes in 2024.

“The starting stroke spread for this year’s DGPT Championship was adjusted based on ongoing discussions and feedback from players and in consultation with StatMando,” said Jeff Spring, DGPT CEO and Tour Director. “After dropping the score reset and cut after round two last season, we have now also tightened the starting advantage spread, with only three strokes between 1st and 8th place in the MPO DGPT World Standing, and just two strokes separating the bottom half of the division. With a similar adjustment also in place on the FPO side, we expect to see increased competition at the top and more parity in the middle of the field as competitors battle to climb the payout chart.”
