For Immediate Release:

Disc Golf Network to Cover 2024 Finnish National Championships on DGN Pro

June 27, 2024: The Disc Golf Network is thrilled to announce that the 2024 Finnish National Disc Golf Championships will be broadcast LIVE from Sibbe Disc Golf Course from July 4 to 7. This broadcast will concur with the Des Moines Challenge and will be the only dual coverage weekend of the 2024 season.

The Finnish National Championship is an annual PDGA XA Tier event open exclusively to qualified Finnish players. Although it is not a DGPT points event, the Finnish National Championships represent the premier display of Finnish disc golf talent each season. This year, three-time and defending MPO Finnish National Champion Niklas Antilla leads a field of over 40 players rated 1000 or higher. In FPO, Eveliina Salonen, Henna Blomroos, and Silva Saarinen are top contenders.

A DGN Pro Exclusive Event
This special event will be available only on the Disc Golf Network’s premium subscription tier, DGN Pro. DGN Standard and DGN Basic subscribers can easily upgrade for as little as $7.00 a month.

Separately, the European Open will be broadcast exclusively on DGN Pro two weeks later. All in all, subscribers can look forward to five top-level European tournaments by the end of July, including the DGPT’s Swedish Open, Krokhol Open, and European Disc Golf Festival.**

“We’re ecstatic to offer this bonus coverage as added value for DGN Pro subscribers,” said Zac Kuykendall, DGPT Marketing Director. “While not planned as a part of our Pro content offerings at the beginning of the season, we jumped at the chance to provide Pro subscribers with full live coverage of one of the most unique European tournaments of the year, an event that highlights the flourishing Finnish disc golf scene.”

Expanded Finnish Distribution

In addition to distribution on DGN Pro, the Finnish National Disc Golf Championships will be carried live on Yle Areena for all four rounds. Yle Areena is Finland’s most popular streaming service, owned and operated by the country’s national public broadcasting company.

“Our National Championships hold a special place in our hearts as it not only celebrates top talent across Finland but also serves as a powerful platform to showcase the sport of disc golf to as many Finns as possible,” said Juha Kytö, DGPT Media Director and Tournament Organizer. “By expanding our media distribution via DGN and Yle Areena, we are taking a significant stride forward in our mission to popularize disc golf across Europe and in an already highly engaged Finland.”

A list of currently registered players for the Finnish National Championship can be viewed on the PDGA website. Fans can subscribe to DGN Pro at discgolfnetwork.com
